The show was a total success, as noted by the folk from the clubs, traders, bonsai people and the general visitors to the RHS Rosemoor Garden. The quote below was from Sally Smith the RHS Events Manager.
“I wanted to say thank you for a fantastic show, it has been fed back how great the visitor flow was through to the show room and how high the awareness was of the event so a great result. I thought you might be interested to see how the footfall compared to 2 years ago; the paying adults are usually new audience to Rosemoor so a 30% increase is huge for us compared to other events through the year.”
The atmosphere in the ‘Garden Room’ was beautifully tranquil despite the many people and traders talking around the exhibits. The demonstration of a Scots pine and a rather stubborn Yew from raw material had a constant audience who had unceasing questions to the demonstrators Roy Hutchinson and Jon Hooper.
The show was about the clubs in the south west, who all worked extremely hard to achieve displays of considerable merit. The joint first prize was given to North Devon Bonsai Society and the Somerset Bonsai Society each receiving the prize of a tree, while the Best Tree in the show was given to Brian MacKichan for his exquisite Acer.
